When you are dealing with pests, and despite trying many things, you cannot get rid of them, you must know about the right methods that work and those that do not. However, you must consider getting help from a Keller pest control company. With the advice of their professionals and experts, you can easily get rid of the pests. In this blog, you will learn more about pest control methods that work and do not work.

Pest control methods that work

Pest control methods may not always work, but using the right ones will make sure you get rid of them. Here are a few tips to remember.

  • Inspecting your house.

While dealing with pest infestations, the first thing you must do is inspect every corner of your house and look for entry points like gaps, holes, and cracks. Monitor all the hidden and dark places in your house to locate the infestation. In addition, have a look at water leaks and pipelines because pests are attracted to stagnant water.

  • Seal all the entry points.

After inspecting your house, start sealing all the entry points that may have been detected during the inspection. Use caulk to fill all the gaps and cracks in your wall and ceiling, use weather strips to shut your window tightly, repair all the broken windows and door screens, and fix your utility areas.

  • Use natural remedies and trapping devices.

Avoid using chemical products to eradicate the infestation; use natural remedies like vinegar solution, cedar oil, peppermint oil, neem oil, diatomaceous earth, and other herbs. In addition, you can also use trapping gadgets like poison traps, glue traps, and other gadgets that attract the pests toward them and eradicate them.

  • Maintain cleanliness.

Cleaning your house is very beneficial for your property. Pests are more likely to get attracted to dirt and food. Therefore, make sure you clean every corner of your house, sanitize it daily, clean all the spilled food from the floor, and do not forget to clean your attics, sheds, and ceilings because these places are neglected more often.

Take out the trash frequently before it starts smelling and drawing pests. Most importantly, ensure to not let dirty dishes pile up in the sink – wash them promptly and store food properly in sealed containers, not left out uncovered.

Pest control methods that do not work –

  • Ultrasonic devices

It is stated that ultrasonic devices are effective against pests. However, they do not provide long-term control over the pests. After some time, the rodents adapt to it.

  • DIY pest control sprays

Likewise, using DIY pest control sprays, traps, and remedies surely has an impact on the pests, but it does not last for a long time. It will give you relief for a short amount of time, and then you will start seeing them again.

  • Pest repellant plants

Pest-repellant plants are supposed to deal with pests with their odor and high fragrance. However, they are not good enough for long-term control, and pests get accustomed to them after some time.
